Birthstone Goddesses - Main Series

Created between 2014 and 2019, I was compelled to do this series as a homage to my favorite Art Nouveau artist, Alphonse Mucha, whose Precious Stone series has inspired me since I was a young art student. I wanted to channel that series' appreciation of flowers and gemstones into my own exploration of Birthstones and the mythos of holidays and their cultural symbolism.
Each goddess channels her own story inspired by real-world holidays, goddesses, and the folklore of each birthstone.
