My name is Angela and I was that shy kid who would rather be reading about heroes and fairy tales in the library than playing on the playground. I loved adventuring in the world of books and sketching stories and images about my own worlds and heroes.
It was around the age of 9 that I read the book “Saint George and the Dragon“ illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman. I was simply enchanted by her illustrations! They were so richly detailed and captivating for my young impressionable self. I knew right then and there that I wanted to be an illustrator!
Professionally, I have already published a book via the mass market entitled Angelic Visions: Create Fantasy Art Angels in Watercolor, Ink, and Colored Pencil and am currently plotting a career in fantasy illustration and book cover work. Now as an adult, I’d rather be in the studio painting my own worlds and characters than anywhere else! Except for maybe the local coffee shop.
I have also earned two degrees in English and Studio Art from The University of West Georgia and graduated from The Savannah College of Art and Design with an MA in Arts Administration, where I wrote my thesis on e-marketing and evolving audiences.
I regularly attend conventions, art shows, book signings, and fairs. Check my Calendar of Events to see where I might wind up next! Remember, if you say “Elves smell better,” you’ll get a discount from me!
Come on in and introduce yourself at my Angelic Shades Blog, where you can read dev dairies of my work, tips and tricks for artists and writers, tutorials, and more.
I do accept commission requests for custom artwork (book covers, character portraits, etc) and artisan crafts! See my Commission page for more info.
